(RoW March 19 – 25)
One of my favorite time periods in History is the 1600s – 1800s: Nelson vs. Napoleon. I really enjoy reading about the great ships that sailed the seas, the pirates and buccaneers, and the wars between England and France. I admire the heroes of that time, the men and captains that manned those warships. From these stories and legends, from the fierce battles that raged across the seas, I created an image hopefully worthy of this time and era – the H.M.S. Fury.
This image took a long while to create. I started off messing with waves and different functions in Vue 6. After a while, I got this great idea and began working on it. The ship is a model from C3D and I customized it to look like an English vessel. I tweaked dials and parameters on the atmosphere for a bit and then rendered the image.
I let Vue render through the night. The render took 18 hours in all. After finishing, I started postwork on it the next morning. I added in all the foam and adjusted the lighting a little. Thanks for looking!
There is a print available of H.M.S. Fury in my deviantART store here. Enjoy!
Really nice!
I like this one a lot!
Oh my gosh! That is great!
Great picture. How did you get the water to look that good?
It’s wonderful, Brady.
Thanks for all the comments everybody.
Hey Mark, thanks for stopping by. I used an Open Ocean function with a terrain. The material was from the Vue library and I darkened it a bit and decreased the transparency.
I used some foam/wave brushes in Photoshop to create the foam and painted them on with my Wacom pen.
