Quiet Waters

quiet_watersCreating realistic waves, splashes, and foam are one of the hardest techniques to master in 3d art. I knew that if I created an image with waves, and then did alot of postwork on it, the waves would look pretty real. But my goal was to create waves and foam in Vue, without any postwork. (Look at High Seas post for more info on creating waves with postwork.)

I created a couple sand dune terrains, and applied a water material to them. I placed the waves in the correct spot next to the boat for the boat’s wake. I then took a pyramid shape, flattened it into a triangle, laid it on top of the water, and centered it on the boat. To this triangle, I applied a foam material.

After a few adjustments and corrections, I rendered the image. I added the framing and lettering in Photoshop to finish the image off.
