Alien Gardens was my entry for the Vue 6 3D Enviroment Competition. Although I didn’t place in the standings (there were 12 finalists out of 260 entries), I still think that my image was better than a few that did place.
Now, this image took the longest time to render out of all my previous images. Alien Gardens contains over 3,200,000 polygons and six lights. I also added Global Radiosity for extra light and brightness. All together, it took 20+ hours to render this one frame (ouch! Talk about being nervous the whole time! I’m just glad that my PC didn’t crash half way through.)!
Note:
1. Check out the texture of the rocks near the water. I mixed a bunch of textures together (gold, a few different kinds of rocks, bluish purple substances) to create this interesting alien effect.
2. The water started out as a milk texture, but became more transparent as I changed things here and there.
3. I combined sand, grass, and an orange texture to create the terrain.
4. Depth is very hard to create in 3D graphic images. I created this image with as much depth as possible.
Thanks for looking and enjoy!
That is magnificent!! You should have been in the top 12!
Your eyes must have gotten sore working on the computer for so long…….
That’s awesome! It’s so weird that it’s incredible!
May I ask what the little pinkish things are that are sticking out of the ground?
The “little pinkish things” do not have a name yet. Ideas anyone?
I used primitive objects (squares, spheres, etc.) to model these interesting plants. And then I textured them with a few different textures, including a pinkish material.
Nice “alien” environment. You should try more of that type of thing.
Your custom blog template turned out great! Job well done to both Goofy Girl designs and you. M
I LOVE your new blog design!!
I think that the “little pinkish things” look like worms sticking out of the ground. But, of course, that is just my personal opinion!
I think they look like a type of alien cacti. Mom
Love the new template!!!! Hmm, now I’m starting to think about needing a custome one…
Nice layout!
