(RoW June 19 – 25)
I regard SeaTech as one of the most realistic images I’ve created. This scene was my second entry in the Underwater Challenge.
I worked very hard on the density of the water in this image. I wanted it to be so dense, that the submarine seemed to be emerging from it. I used around 8 or 9 spotlights in this scene to give the water texture some caustics. The texture of the water was quite difficult to create. I mixed together over 4 textures to get this final texture. After I finished the water, the rest of the image went pretty quickly. I added some terrain to look like a reef, and textured it with some mossy rock.
After the atmosphere was created, I animated the sub coming out of the water. Since I animated the scene, it enabled me to render the image with motion blur. I rendered one frame of the animation, which created a slight blur of the submarine as it came out of the water’s depths.
I used Adobe Photoshop Elements for some postwork. The blur tool gave the image a little more blur that I wanted and I also brightened up the image a tad.
Good job! It looks pretty real!!

This shows a lot of movement. Amazing what you are learning to do, Brady.
Great work Brady! I like it.
That is really quite something! Your underwater creations are the best!
