I’m back from vacation and I’m working hard on a couple of Challenges right now on Cornucopia 3d. The winner of a challenge will receive a winner’s graphic to display on their website and will get to pick what the next challenge is about. There are a couple different challenges going on right now, each one focuses on something different from the other. There is an Underwater Challenge for beginners/2d artists. Another challenge I’m taking place in is centered on Materials and Terrains- called “The Coastal Challenge”. This doesn’t mean that you have to create an image with an ocean and a beach. It means that there has to be water in the scene that connects somehow to land (like a mud puddle, etc.). Another Challenge coming up is focused on the Atmosphere and Lighting side of things. These challenges are meant for artists to get better at certain things. Each one focuses on something different. There are forums on Cornucopia 3d where the challenges originate, and where you can discuss things with other artists. It has been alot of fun working with (and meeting) other people from around the globe. We share and exchange ideas that help us with our images created in Vue 5. You are allowed to submit up to 3 images to each challenge.
I created No More Wanderings for one of my entries to the Underwater Challenge. Not many artists were creating underwater scenes that had density or murkiness, so I set my mind to it and came up with this. I have a total of 10 (or 11) spotlights in this scene, and I used some slight fog/haze for the murkiness. The ship was a freebie from DAZ 3d. It came out with their weekly newsletter just in time.
Fly Over (for the Coastal Challenge) took on the idea of creating realistic waves. Waves tend to be one of the hardest things to create in 3d
graphics art. The waves in this image are actually terrain (like dunes) with my customized material or texture of water and foam. The Coastal Challenge centers more on materials and terrains, so I was not trying to make a finished image (palm trees on the beach, beautiful sunset, etc.). I used Photoshop for minor postwork on this image- blurring a few things, and lighting details.
Great job Brady! Glad to see you back on your blog!
YOU’RE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, good job! I hope you win a challenge.
Glad you’re getting back into the swing of things. I think you’ll win one of those challenges soon. Mom
Wow, love the new format!!!
Great job, Brady! I like both of those, although I think I like Fly Over best. I’ll bet it took a long time to get the waves to look just right.
Good luck on the challanges!
